FTW369B Company Operations Facility

In spring 2011, UNIT was selected for the design and construction of a standard single-plex Company Operations Facility (COF) for the Aviation Task Force Phase 2 at Fort Wainwright, Alaska.  The 13,100 SF was designed for a single Army company that operates as a 100-person unit.  This project was delivered as a Fast Track Design Build project. This facility is similar to office/warehouse type facilities. 

The facility is comprised of an Administrative Module, Readiness Module and Enclosed Hardstand.  The Administration Module includes office and conference room spaces and is located on the south side of the facility.  The office area is a contemporary work environment with large operable windows. The Readiness Module is a two-story volume that functions as the locker room and storage area for the company.  It includes cast-in-place concrete arms vaults.  The Enclosed Hardstand is used as the mission preparation and staging area for the company.  

The structural building system is a pre-engineered metal building supported by reinforced concrete foundations. The project was designed and coordinated with other members of the design team using building information modeling (BIM) software.
